ProMoCare — Promotion of Mother’s Care

AIFS created ProMoCare to provide affordable, culturally responsive healthcare support for African immigrant and refugee mothers, expectant parents and their newborns — so families feel prepared, safe and confident as they welcome and raise their children.

Car seat education and safety

Certified car seat technicians check that seats are installed and fitted correctly, help parents and caregivers install them and teach how to keep infants and young children secure on the road.

Home safety visits

During periodic home visits, trained staff give culturally tailored guidance on fire safety, fall prevention, childproofing and other home safety practices.

Learning Begins at Birth

An early childhood education program that helps parents understand and support their child’s development from day one: growth milestones, language development, nutrition and play-based learning.

Our culturally based approach

ProMoCare is built by and for the African immigrant and refugee community. We understand the cultural traditions, language needs and challenges families face when navigating U.S. healthcare, and our team provides respectful, culturally grounded care that bridges the gap between families and medical providers.
